1、英国化学家戴维，是一位木器雕刻匠的儿子。虽然他小时候家境并不富裕，但他却贫穷不改凌云志，坚持刻苦学习，二十岁时就发现了一种能使人发笑不已的气体--笑广七(一氧化二氮)，从此闻名于世。在进行这次实验时，他差点因吸进过多的笑气而丧命。二十九岁时，他又用电解法制得了金属仰和钠，翌年制得金属镁、钙、锶、钡，于是声名显赫。

爱迪生把毕生的精力，都贡献给了科学，他一生有一千多项发明，他的义务是为人类造福，可谓真正履行到家了。
3、英国人辛柏孙(1811-1870)为了找到最好的医用麻醉剂，把能找到的能使人麻醉的药剂都亲自试用过，但一直没有找到他认为满意的。一天，他发现"迷蒙精"可能是一种好麻醉剂，便大量吸入鼻孔，顿时失去了知觉，良久方醒。他狂喜如童，手舞足蹈，高喊："找到最好的了! 找到最好的了!"

6、著名的丹麦天文学家第谷·布拉赫(1546-1601)，是把行星运动详情记录下来的第一位天文学家。他发现德国天文学家开普勒(1571-1630)是个人才，便约他共同观测、研究。学生学得了老师的一身真本领，对天文研究有很高的造诣。后来有人挑拨他和老师的关系，开普勒相信谗言，愤而出走了。
7、布拉赫心中十分难过，但他并没有迁怒于学生，而是胸怀坦荡，不记旧怨。当他快要辞世时，将开普勒唤至床前，把珍藏多年的观测研究的大量稀世资料，悉数交给了开普勒，嘱开普勒完成其未竟之业。开普勒为老师的高尚品德所感动，在视力极差的艰难条件下，在布拉赫大量观测所得数据的基础上，经长期观测，计算，归纳，证明，发现了行星沿椭圆轨道运行，提出了行星运动三定律，被誉为"天空立法者"。
